Coaches-Trainers & Athletes

I would like to share an area of specialty that may be of benefit to you and the players on your team.  Applied Kinesiology manual muscle testing procedures allow us a very unique look at back, neck, and other joint problems.  We are now able to shed a very different light on sports injuries to more efficiently and effectively fix these sports injuries, and we are even able to actually evaluate athletes for, and improve an individual’s optimal sports performance.

Specialized training in Applied Kinesiology uniquely allows ‘AK Docs’ to treat sports injuries most efficiently and effectively by identifying and treating the various causes of muscle weakness and imbalance.  This is the key factor, often the missing link that predisposes joints to injury and also reduces optimal body function and performance.

Kinesiology is simply the study of movement of muscles.  The Kinesiologists have shown us how to specifically isolate and evaluate muscle movement and function.  The field of Applied Kinesiology was developed in an attempt to find the underlying cause(s) of muscle weakness and imbalance.  Applied Kinesiology is now an exceptionally useful tool to find and treat muscle weakness and imbalance.  There can be many reasons a muscle is not properly functioning.  There may be actual muscle/tendon or joint/ligament damage from sprain/strain types of injury, nerve impingement, or other less well-known associations.

Muscles not only move the joints, but they are also a primary stabilizer of the joints (before the joint reaches the end point of its range of motion).  Athletes with optimally functioning muscles will therefore be less likely to suffer injuries when the joints of the body become stressed from various accidents or incidents that occur during sports participation.  Individuals with properly functioning muscles will also be less likely to have prolonged recovery if injuries do occur.  When combined with Chiropractic adjusting techniques, these Applied Kinesiology muscle balancing techniques allow us to best restore health and function to the body.

We now have many “tools” in our bag to find and correct these muscles very efficiently and effectively.  This type of treatment is becoming very popular among athletes, especially at the professional level, since it is so exceptionally successful, even when many other approaches to treatment are not.  Professional athletes also go to Applied Kinesiologists to prevent injury and to improve performance through optimization of muscle function.

Many people are diagnosed with tendonitis, bursitis or other generalized diagnoses’, when the underlying cause of the joint pain is muscle weakness and imbalance that support of the joint. When there is a muscle-tendon or ligament/joint injury, restrengthening the muscles around the joint, and ensuring proper alignment of the joint will most effectively promote healing, reduce pain and improve function.

Treatment of spasming, painful muscles with massage, ultrasound, hot pads, and electrical stimulation may make them feel better temporarily.  However, if the muscle spasm is caused by the muscle’s antagonist being weak, then the best way to treat that spasming, painful muscle is by identifying and strengthening the weak antagonist muscle.  Applied Kinesiology techniques are exceptionally effective with finding and treating problems of this nature.

Everyone participating in sports programs undergoes physicals to determine a certain level of health; to rule out injuries that affect the athlete’s level of play, and to rule out conditions that might threaten an athlete’s future.  Now you can go one step beyond that level of evaluation with the functional assessment we call the “Ultimate Performance Sports Exam”.  Looking at the body in this manner can identify subtle, but significant muscle weakness and imbalance that can not only return an athlete to a competitive level when injuries occur, but also prevent injury and optimize performance.

I would very much like to demonstrate my specialized techniques for yourself or for anyone you may have concern.  I am confident that I can provide an added dimension towards understanding the connection between health, injuries and wellness for yourself, your friends and your family.

I am also available to discuss the most current trends and applications of sports conditioning, aerobic fitness, sports nutrition, general nutrition, allergies, general wellness programs (Functional Medicine) and more.

I look forward to sharing my knowledge of health care with you.
